More About Me
I earned Bachelors and Masters degrees from the University of Michigan School of Music, after a childhood of sight-reading piano, accompanying and coaching my friends at solo and ensemble festivals, and playing trombone in every band and orchestra I could find.
I developed my arranging skills with the Michigan Marching Band and performed as its drum major for three years. Later I became the band's graduate assistant and principal arranger, creating “the definitive arrangement” of the musical cheer Let’s Go Blue!, performed to this day in stadiums & arenas worldwide.
Here in New York City I've learned much that's indispensable about musical theatre and the business, during years in the ASCAP and BMI Musical Theatre Workshops, and from the likes of Charles Strouse, Richard Maltby Jr., Skip Kennon, Richard Engquist, Richard Simson, Bruce Peyton, Stephen Schwartz and Wally Harper...
...and during more than 30 years of working Off-Broadway, in regional theatre, summer stock, television and industrials, as musical director, arranger, orchestrator, pianist, composer, per-former and coach.
